Everything you need to know about Typoman. Typoman Official Nintendo Switch Announcement Trailer. 2:28 Feb 5, 2018. Doom Eternal Tips and Tricks.
If you're playing through on your non-wordscrambler run, odds are you've made a few random words to help fulfil this requirement. One thing to note is that you need to spell 30 unique words. Words you have spelt before do not count. You can tell whether or not a word is new or not by looking in the bottom left corner when spelling.
If it is a word you've never spelt before, it will show.BLANK. word found. You can check to see which words you've spelt in the stats option in the menu. The other achievement you'll earn progress towards in this chapter is the Liar achievement. This achievement requires you to spell the word LIE at every possible opportunity in the game. There are three areas in Chapter 2 and four areas in Chapter 3 and I will point them out within the walkthrough when they appear. Now at the start of the chapter, we end up inside a cave with syringes coming out of the ceiling. If one of these stabs you, you will be poisoned, disorienting your screen. To cure this poison, you need to make a 'good' word (i.e.
BRAVE, GOOD, LOVE, etc.). Good words are characterized by the orange area of effect around them and when inside, you are protected from enemies. Be careful though, if you are poisoned and stabbed again by a syringe, you'll die. After the cutscene, continue to the right and you'll be stabbed by a syringe hanging from the ceiling. Continue to the right some more and you'll come across the word BRAVE, which will cure your poison. Push BRAVE to the right and stop right before the red laser, otherwise you'll lose your shield.
Before jumping across the gap, fall into it and you'll land on a wooden platform. Keep climbing down and you'll see the quotation on your left. Climb down to the fourth wooden platform and then jump across the gap to grab quotation 12/23 and an achievement. 1 guideHead back up and to the right and you'll get stabbed again.
Head to the right and push the F to the right and you'll make FAITH. Push FAITH to the right and stop once you reach the edge of the red lasers.
On the other side of the laser you'll see the letters D, S, and A and a syringe above them. Head out of the bubble and get stabbed, then immediately go back into the bubble before proceeding.
This is because the syringes have a cooldown timer. So by getting stabbed and then immediately clearing yourself of the poison, you gain more time to solve the puzzles. Once you do that, head back out and pick up the D and place it on the other side of the letters and push it towards the gap. A GORGE enemy will come up and eat the D, becoming GORGED. This will allow you to push the SA across the gap to the FE on the other side. Push them together to create the word SAFE.Hop over the mushroom and through the laser and get stabbed by the syringe. Heal yourself within SAFE and then head back out and rearrange the letters out here to spell GOOD.
Push this as far as you can to the right and jump over the mushroom that is blocking it. Get stabbed by the syringe again and heal yourself inside GOOD, then quickly climb the ladder and keep heading to your right until you get to the word TRUST. Keep pushing it to the right and you'll come across the letters TLI, and a ROTOR platform. What you need to do is push the TLI far to the right against the mushroom and arrange them to spell ILT. Then you need to push TRUST close enough to ILT so you can easily maneuver the T at the end of TRUST to the beginning of ILT and vice versa. Move the T at the end of TRUST to the beginning of ILT to make TILT.
Let the ROTOR platform rotate until it is at a diagonal pointing from the bottom left to the upper right, then separate TILT and make TRUST again to heal yourself because odds are you were poisoned doing this.Head up the ROTOR platform and you'll get stabbed, so quickly heal yourself within TRUST, then head back up and you'll come across some letters. Rearrange them to spell LOVE and continue on to the right. You'll be stabbed but continue on to the right and you'll fall into the word FREE. Head to the right and you'll get a cutscene where an enemy will come down and create a FEAR enemy behind you. After the cutscene, head to the right and push the letters together to make the word CUT and continue on to the right. You will come to a 'LEAP' ledge and when you jump off, you'll jump onto some letters. No need to adjust your position as you auto position yourself onto them, you just need to press. After you perform your 'Leap of Faith' and are back safe on the ground, head to the right and stand a good distance back from the wall as an elevator will come down and squish you if you're underneath it.
Get inside and ride it up and exit to the right. Immediately turn around and jump on top of it (careful not to fall into the hole), and when it comes back up, jump across to the platform on the left and head up the stairs here to grab quotation 13/23.
Head back down to the elevator and go to the right and you'll come across a ROBUST sign hanging over a flaming pit. Run and jump quickly across it as the O and the B fall out, creating a gap.
Once across, continue to the right and you'll come to a massive pit with the word IMMORTAL over it. Fall into it and you'll see a PRESS with a board full of 8 letters, a wall, some lasers, and a CRUSH machine with a lever on the other side. This is where we will get some more of our achievements in this level and also work towards some more.First off, head over to the letter board.
NOTE: This is not the same as using the wordscrambler. There are more areas like this in the game as well. These are simply letter generators. The first word we are going to want to make it HAT. So make that word using the letter board and confirm it. Once the word is created, your character will have a hat on his head, and more importantly you'll get yourself an achievement. 1 guideNext, we are going to make our first lie.
Make the word LIE from the letterboard. Once it is spelt out, it will turn red and turn into a little robot. These LIE robots transform words into their opposites (i.e.
Open/closed, die/born, etc). There are puzzles later in the game that require using LIE bots to solve them, and the Antonymizer minigame is centred around them. Once you make it and it transforms, this is lie 1/7 you need. The next achievement we will work towards is the Versitile achievement.
I used solution to solve this. You essentially need to use words to solve the puzzles here, then retry the puzzles and solve it using different words ten times. This area works great because separating the wall, stopping the CRUSH, and raising the PLATFORM count as one puzzle each. Make sure you upvote her solution as it helped me a lot!Once you've solved a puzzle using a different word 10 times, you'll unlock.
1 guideNow on to the actual solution for the puzzle itself. The first thing you want to do is break up the JOINED.
Go to the letter box and make the word SPLIT so it separates the JOINED, and then push the SPLIT into the lasers to get rid of it as it will stay open. Next, go back to the letter box and make the word STOP. Push this right to the front of the red laser on the right side. You also need to make sure the CRUSH is up so you can walk under it. To ensure this, keep separating the S from the rest of the word until the CRUSH stops up top.
Head over to the lever and pull it. This will deactivate the laser for a short time.
Quickly head back to the letter box and make the word RAISE. Once it's built it will raise the platform, so you need to quickly head over to where the platform below the ladder is and jump up there before the laser comes back on, otherwise you'll need to start over.
Once on the platform, climb up the ladder and head to the right.Continue on to the right and drop down into an area where you will see the words MORE and VOTE. Rearrange the letters to spell REMOVE and make sure it is over the grey part of the floor so it moves the container out of the way. Once the container is at the top, spell the word MOVE and the gun below you will move to the right into the loading bay, which will lower the gate in front of you. Pull the lever here and it will load the gun with bullets and once it's loaded the gate in front of you will drop.
You will see the gun below you on a platform with two levers, with the left lever raising the platform and the right lever lowering it. There is also a red laser coming out of the gun which, when jumped through, shoots the bullets so be careful otherwise you'll die. Head to the right and you'll enter a cutscene where an enemy will create a LIE. The LIE will crawl into the O and create a PROPAGANDA enemy. You'll get blown back towards the gun and you'll need to use it to kill it. You'll notice there are three trumpets on the enemy, emitting noise.
You need to raise/lower the platform and jump through the red laser and make sure you get the bullets stuck in each of the trumpets to defeat it.Once you've defeated the PROPAGANDA enemy, continue to the right where it was and you'll see the LIE enemy above you. Quickly keep running to the right, drop down from the ledge, and pull the lever to create the word OPEN. Then the LIE will come along and fall down onto it, changing it from OPEN to CLOSE, which will allow you to proceed to the right. You'll eventually come across another LIE enemy which will change the YES in front of you to a NO. Rearrange these letters to make the word ON to activate the switch and which will activate the elevator. Jump across the gap and get in the elevator and once at the top, exit the elevator to the left to find quotation 14/23.
Head back to the right and head right from the elevator. Jump down and quickly jump again as you'll land on a ROBUST platform where the O and the B will fall down.Keep heading to the right and you'll reach a puzzle with some lasers, a LIE bot, the word LOSS on one side of moving platforms, and the word REVOLT above the platforms. Climb in between the platforms and up the ladder on the other side. Separate the R and the E from REVOLT to make the word VOLT which will activate the platform, crushing the word ON below.
Now grab the R and jump off with it, and walk behind the LIE bot and direct him to the right. Once he reaches the word LOSS, he will change LOSS into GAIN. Swap out the G with the R to create the word RAIN and it will put out the fire in front of you, allowing you to walk across the pit and climb up the ladder on the other side.Keep heading to the right, past a bunch of piles of letters, until you get to a sign board with the word USE on it, and just past it, the word PART on the ground. Be careful though, if you get to close, the word PART is actually a TRAP that will kill you.
You need to get close enough to trigger the trap and then quickly back away so it smacks the ground. Do this two more times and the S will break off from the USE sign. Push the S towards the PART and leave a bit of room.
Jump over the S and trigger the TRAP. If the S is close enough, it will make STRAP, which traps the TRAP in a STRAP.Continue on to the right and you'll find the word VILE, but the V is stuck. This is where you will create lie 2/7. Create it and push it towards the left towards the word LIVE. Turns out this is also a trap. So when the LIE bot gets close, it will trigger the trap which turns the word EVIL into the word GOOD. Now before we head to the right, were gonna push GOOD down to the left.
Push it all the way down and then to the left, protecting yourself from the syringes, and at the end of the path you'll find quotation 15/23. Now push GOOD all the way back to where we first created it, and rearrange the letters here to make the word DOOR. This will bust open the door in front of you, allowing you to continue on to the right.Keep going to the right and you'll see another 'Leap of Faith' you'll need to perform. But instead, you'll need to quickly run and jump across this structure to reach the other side before it collapses. If you're too slow simply select retry from the pause menu.
Once on the other side, you have to climb up and then navigate through some timed fire traps. Once you've navigated through these, you'll find quotation 16/23 and drop down into the aforementioned leap of faith area.
When you drop down into this area, you need to quickly rearrange the letters here to make the word SOLID. That way, when the walls close in on you, the SOLID word won't break and you'll survive.Head down the hole here and continue to the right and you'll come to another times fire area.
Jump under/over the barrels while they're not spouting fire and then continue on to the right into a tricky part of our non-wordscrambler playthrough. You will drop into an area with two walls.
Behind one wall there will be a HATE enemy, and behind another wall will be a LIE we need to create, which will be lie 3/7. Once you pull the lever, the HATE enemy will come running towards you, and you need to rearrange the letters to spell the word LIE quickly enough that the HATE enemy doesn't eat any letters before it takes effect.
What I did to combat this was to set it up piece by piece, then jump on top of (to stun it) and over the HATE enemy, run to the far side, jump on top of and over it again and run back and continue constructing the word, and I repeated this until I was able to get it. Once you get it, it will turn HATE into LOVE.
You need to take the O from LOVE and put it next to the N by the elevator to make the word ON, which will activate the elevator. Jump inside the elevator and ride it up and head to the right, being mindful of the ROBUST platform that has the R and O fall off. Right after this platform, you'll see a hanging H, hanging I, hanging D and a hanging E.
Jump on the mushroom to the right of the hanging E and jump onto the hanging E, making your way across until you get to the hanging H. From the hanging H, swing yourself so you can jump on the platform to your right and grab quotation 17/23.Head back down to the BUST (formerly ROBUST) platform and continue on to the right. You will come to a ledge and once you reach the end of it, a cutscene will play.
A FEAR enemy will show up and poison you. Then you'll jump off the ledge and an enemy will create a DOOM enemy behind you. As soon as you can, run to the letters in front of you and try your best to rearrange the letters into the word CLOSE to help you progress forward. Now we have an opportunity for two achievements: One for making it through the fire while poisoned, and one for making it through the fire without dying (you do not need to be poisoned for this). Below I will post clips of me doing both runs but I will also do my best to provide a text guide for it as well. Here is a clip of me doing it while poisoned. Now for the text guide. After you make the word CLOSE, you will keep running to the right and have the opportunity to make the word FIRM.
DO NOT MAKE THIS WORD IF YOU ARE GOING FOR YOUR POISON RUN ACHIEVEMENT!!! Creating FIRM will clear you of your poison effects. So make sure you jump over it. Jump over the gap a bit further on and you'll come to a metal rod over a fire pit.
While running, jump three times to ensure you'll make it without falling through as the platform will collapse. Shortly after, you'll some to a SOLID platform where the S and O will fall out, and a TRANSIT platform where the N and the S will fall out. Continuing on, you'll pass under a crate which will fall down once you pass it. Hop up and grab quotation 18/23 from the platform above it and continue on.
You'll soon come to a barrel with fire spraying out of it. Make sure you stop if you need to to get safely through and continue running and drop off the ledge and land on the mine cart below.
Quickly run and jump over the next set of falling pipes and you'll reach some hanging letters. To cross these, hold to the right and once the letter you're on is even with the letter you're trying to get to, make the jump. If you try and swing to gain momentum the fire will kill you.
Once you traverse the letters you'll get to some crates. When you hop on the rightmost one it will fall, so quickly jump and grab onto the ladder and climb up.If you made it without dying from the fire, you'll unlock.
Typoman: Revised is a clever little creation by Brainseed Factory. When the game was originally launched late last year, it left a lot to be desired, but this year’s revision is largely an improvement in terms of graphics, sound design, and mechanics.
Aside from some of the set pieces, most of the creatures and objects in this game are built out of letters. You play as the HERO, traveling through different post-apocalyptic environments and crafting words that solve puzzles or scare away the darkness. The world of Typoman: Revised is intriguing and atmospheric. Each area feels distinct, and an understated but noticeable soundscape adds to the experience.
This game features wordplay and platforming, striking a pretty even balance between the two. The platforming sections are smooth, and most of the time it’s easy to predict where your jumps will land or if you’ll be able to cling onto a ledge. Much of it comes down to timing, whether you’re skipping across crumbling rocks or outrunning a raging fire.
Completing word scrambles – arranging letters into positive or actionable words that help you progress through chapters – is never too difficult. They’re just challenging enough to feel rewarding when you form that magic word, and often there are multiple solutions. Unlike the first version, it was never a struggle spotting letters to use against the background, but the controls for moving around letters did take some getting used to.
When it comes to the story, there still isn’t much that’s overt. I did like the subtle narrative of censorship and the power of words told through the surroundings and quotations that can be discovered. These elements give you something to ponder in between monster chases and poison puzzles. While the quotes aren’t by anyone in particular, they are brief thoughts that let you pause and contemplate themes like wisdom vs. propaganda and good vs. evil.
However, the ending fell flat for me. The game built up plenty of tension through all of your encounters with forces of negativity – word monsters like DOOM and FEAR following you around – but then it tried to go in too many directions to resolve that tension. It felt like three or four endings back-to-back instead of one clear ending, so the final moments were conceptually confusing and whiplash-inducing.
Overall I enjoyed Typoman: Revised, but it wasn’t quite as thought-provoking or awe-inspiring as I’d hoped. You can tell that it’s been polished from the first version, but the story is still too vague to leave much of an impact. It was a short experience; my playthrough was just over four hours, and that was taking my time on puzzles and seeking out quotations. I can’t help but think that additional cutscenes, further quotations, and a more focused ending would’ve made this game feel fully realized.
Typoman: Revised
Review Guidelines
Typoman: Revised is definitely a step up from the original iteration. It has more of its own style, and the gameplay mechanics rarely feel clunky. Though it hints at a meaningful narrative, ultimately it isn’t very substantial.
PROS
Immersive sights and sounds
Good mix of platforming and wordplay
